1. Objective

After completing this module, the professional learner will be able to:

  1. Deliver content (assignments, updates, and more) to students through Seesaw
  2. Organize and provide feedback on student work
  3. Manage Seesaw classes and students

We would like you to accomplish the tasks listed below.  If you need support, please consider the following resources:

Getting Started

  1. Create a Seesaw account by navigating to seesaw.me (you can use a Google account to sign up)
  2. Create a Seesaw class and name it “Last Name_CBD.”
  3. Add at least one student to your class (do not need to be real students).
  4. Open the Class Settings (wrench in the top right)
    1. Create class codes/invite families
    2. Manage Class Settings like name, grade level, and other teachers
    3. Change theme or class icon
    4. Edit student settings (sign-in mode, add students, etc.)
    5. Enable features like family access and Class Blog (we will use the class blog, so be sure to select on)
    6. Create folders using “Manage Folders”

Using the Journal

  1. Add a file, picture, video, or drawing to your “Class Feed.”
    1. Label it with one of your Folders
    2. Assign it to one or all of your students
    3. Try this again with some of the other types
  2. Filter your views (by folder, student)
  3. Add an item to the “Class Blog”

Student View

  1. Create your class code (QR, text)
  2. Log in as a student using the class code
  3. Add a picture, video, or drawing.  
    1. Try adding a “layer” to your creation by annotating, recording your voice, or a typing a caption.
    2. Select a folder when you add the item

Approving Items and Delivering Feedback

  1. Log back in as a teacher and approve any posts in your Notifications section.
  2. Comment on the post. Explore the different ways to comment.
  3. Use the “Copy and Edit” option to respond to a student directly about his/her work.

Messaging and Managing Settings

  1. Select the “Inbox” section and create a student announcement (this is also possible using the green plus)
    1. You can deliver announcements to students, family members, or both
    2. You can also use this section to add family members so that parents/guardians can view student work
  2. Click in the upper lefthand corner to open up settings.  
    1. After clicking on your name, select the settings wheel
    2. Explore Account Settings
    3. Use the “Scan” or “Help” buttons on the bottom
