WHAT IT IS:

Likes & Wonders (sometimes called “I Like, I Wonder” and similar to “I Like, I Wish, I Wonder” or some variation) is a low-stakes feedback strategy that gives students an opportunity to give and receive feedback in a structured and safe manner.

HOW IT WORKS:

When students are sharing work, the teacher provides a graphic organizer or instructs students to create one with sections for the feedback categories “Likes” and “Wonders”. After a student shares work, others provide feedback, beginning each comment with either “I like…” or “I wonder…”.

Students can share in discussion, written, or digital formats. Likes constitute affirmation and approval, especially as it relates to the core of the task, and wonders help frame criticism or suggestion in the form of a question, softening and subjectifying the peer feedback.
